habab 's review for:
The Children of Húrin
by J.R.R. Tolkien
I think it deserves more than 2.5 stars, but I'm personally not fond of it. I know it's a tragedy, but the amount of death and how it occurred felt unnecessary.
Túrin is an unlovable main character, and more so his sister who is portrayed as brave but is just witless and impatient.I also dislike the accidental brother-sister marriage and romance.
I will say that this book is more daring than the typical Tolkien we're used to. But Tolkien is better with happier stories than in tragedies.
