Brilliant, metatheatrical, several centuries before its time. This is hugely funny a mere four hundred years after Beaumont wrote it and works superbly on stage.

Re-read as part of the REP project reading online all the extant repertoire of the Jacobean Children's Companies.

So sad that the play was a flop when first performed. Every revisit brings out more fun. One of my favourite Jacobean comedies,
