The Sapphire Rose by David Eddings

4.0

Bit of a guilty pleasure, this one. I first read the Elenium when I was 17/18, and found the entire set, and David Eddings in general, highly entertaining and a bit of fresh air. Revisiting it at 43, the story was a little on the simple side, always following Sparhawk, and there was little in the way of character development. But, the 18 year old in me still enjoyed the victories, petty insults, and the fact that the heroes of the story never really seem to be in any peril. More like a dessert than a main course. But there is nothing wrong with that.
