Look, I would give this 5 stars if I wasn’t a figure skater. As a figure skater, one who has been a fan since the 90s and a skater almost that long (off and on), it just hits a bit too close to home. Layne Fargo managed to write such a realistic book that I was literally doubting myself when it comes to events I attended (as a fan) or locations I’ve trained at (as a skater). Like, did this happen? Did I miss that? Absolutely unreal amount of research. Holy smokes.
So, if you want a look at the drama and pain and backstabbing that is part of figure skating, this book is for you. If you want a slightly toxic, very messy relationship between two people who are messed up, this is also for you.
