The Shadows: The Books of Elsewhere: Volume 1 by Jacqueline West

Fast paced, quick, absorbing, and very fun read. I liked Olive a lot and loved the magical elements of the story. The writing was also quite nice, if a little heavy on the similes at times. I can't wait to see how Olive develops in future books and hope to see her interacting with other characters a bit more.
