April / Maj / Juni by Audrey Carlan

4.0

Calendar Girl 2 contains the next three parts of Mia's story, April, May and June, and is at once a delicious continuation of the first book and also very new and refreshing. Just as I started to feel nervous that all 12 stories would follow the same pattern, Audrey Carlan underlines that this is not an erotic series, but "erotic romance", meaning that if you remove sex from books, there is still a story. And for my part, I really liked the way the story developed in this book. And yet I didn't.

I loved April. I adore Mason and his friendship with Mia and his character development. Likewise, I really liked seeing Mia finding yet another female friend in the form of Rachel. I could probably have done without Alec, but that's just because being the hopeless romantic that I am on the inside, I really would like to see her get together with Wes, properly and for good. I also really liked May, for the way it brought back Mia's sister Maddy and her best friend Ginelle, whom I feel like might have been left out a bit too much of the story, especially since Maddy is really Mia's motivation for doing this.

June however. Not a fan. I hated the ending, or what led to it, but I also really admire Audrey Carlan for going there. And for putting focus on what Mia wants, not those who immediately want to hurt someone. That's something I always feel is important, it doesn't matter what anyone else wants, it matters what the victim wants. But I am not a fan of this either way.

I find it difficult to accurately rate books like this one, book with multiple stories in it, becaue inadvertenly you'll like some more than others. However, 4 stars is pretty much the average of my feelings about the three stories in this book, so it is as good as it get.
