Final book in the series and much of my earlier thoughts still apply. Fortunately the adventure took a slightly different turn for this episode (each book does feel like a thick episode of a show). One of my earlier comments suggested that knowing the titles of some of the later books in the next series had led me to expect a certain outcome from this particular series. As it turns out my thoughts on where this adventure would lead turned out to be incorrect.
Overall I fair enjoyed this set of 6 books, and was regularly looking forward to reading some more. It's big easy-reading adventure rather than anything hugely impressive. The characters were often broad-brush, dialogue conveyed in thoughts and 'looks', but they had their moments. Repetitive descriptions got annoying, but were presumably there for those that either started on the wrong book (why?!) or for long gaps between books rather than reading one after the other in rapid succession as I have done.
So maybe 3-stars overall but the fact is I looked forward to reading more, especially initially, so I found the series a bit above average for me.
