I was in my summer romance era and very excited to dive into another Abby Jimenez book, as has become my May tradition, but I didn’t find myself enjoying this one.

Perhaps it’s because I just read Funny Story by Emily Henry that had some similar plot lines (fake kind of dating, slow burn feelings, complicated familial issues) (it’s amazing, please read) but I just found this one hard to buy into. Like what about Emma inspired such undying love and adoration in everyone??

I’ve also noticed with this being the third book in the series the books tend to follow the same plot. Think, damaged woman gets everything she wants in a man but she is too damaged/complicated and cannot accept the love; however, the man is unwavering in his love and devotion, and will do anything or wait any amount of time for her to come around. I want more from the men. I want them to be more than the unwavering love interest. It’s crazy how you can be in their point of view and still find them insanely one dimensional characters.

Overall, I enjoyed the plot in Part of your World, had a few questions in Yours Truly and now I think I’m officially over this universe unless it’s gets a major revamp.

Side note: I don’t really think it’s necessary for every side character to find the love of their life in the other person’s best friends/ brother/ sister etc. I don’t think my romance needs to have THAT many bows on it.
