It conveys the absurdity of war really well. I thought it was funny too. The storytelling is unique and fitting as it jumps back and forth and the author goes on lengthy tangents and there were multiple times I thought it was misprinted or I misread it because of the repetition. I love how neatly the story came together the continuity and world building is really nice. I have to admit the process of reading it got tiring because the book drags on, it could have been shorter but I can completely understand why that’s intentional. The thing I did dislike is the description of women. Women are just walking asses in this book. I could understand how some of it is intentional and points to gender related injustices through the absurdity but some are not or are in terrible taste. It was not pleasant to read. But all in all I understand the value of this book and it conveys its message expertly.
