From the moment I picked up this book, I knew it was going to be my first 5 star read for the month! And probably my top read too! I've read a couple other books in the Mortal Enemies to Monster Lovers series and believe me when I say I LOVED them, but Slaying The Vampire Conqueror is definitely my absolute favorite! Not to mention the fact Carissa flawlessly wrote this book into her Crowns of Nyaxia series and I'M. A. Goner. Being back in this world is absolutely everything.

I loved EVERYTHING about this story, the world, the battles, the CONQUEROR! I loved Sylina, who and what she is. An assassin in her own right. I loved getting more of the goddess Acaeja and learning about the Arachessen (a cultish sort of warrior-priory of Acaeja's followers). Their magic, their sacrifices they make all seems so crazy and makes the story that much better. I loved the threads aspects, I loved that they removed their eyesight in order to experience more accuracy in all other senses. Honestly, the entire magic system was AMAZING.

I also loved that our vampire conqueror is a blood born vampire. I loved him and his army so much, honestly, I might even love Atrius more than Raihn! He was absolutely amazing, sort of smug but in a self-assuredly way, sort of beautiful and amazing and so damn honourable. To his people, to the humans, to Sylina. I thought about this book every minute I wasn't reading it and I still think about it daily. The plot was so freaking good, the battle camp scenes, the seering and threadwalking, the marching, the conquering, the strategy, the losses and the wins, all of it was magnificent. I will be forever obsessed!! 😭😍

PS. I have come to the realization that Nyaxia is a terrible goddess. What a twat.
