I Feed Her to the Beast and the Beast Is Me by Jamison Shea

4.0

Thank you to the publisher and the opportunity to read this physical copy of 'I Feed Her To The Beast and The Beast Is Me' by Author Jamison Shea in exchange for an honest review.
This review is of my own opinions.
In this story, we follow Laure, a ballerina fighting to the top in the world of cutthroat rivalries. She is tired of being overlooked and working herself to death for the ballet that offers nothing in return. She goes to the Paris Catacombs and finds a river with ancient power that grants her power.
Along the way, she is able to persuade people to not overlook her, and all the while, her best friend Coralie suddenly starts to become a shell of herself.
Soon, a group of people who have also gotten power from this river/old forgotten being, and they all come together as friends. They slowly started dying off, and I was so shocked to see all the relationships and grief. The budding of a relationship between Laure and Andor was something oddly sweet, considering they both have this weird, godlike sense of power that is also terrifying.
Near the ending, I was full-on FLABBERGASTED... I was GAGGED. I didn't expect a plot twist, but good LORD, it couldn't have come at a better time. The grief, the release of souls, the way I was shook.... CRAZY.
I loved the world building, the characters, and how the author created a monster, thirsty for recognition in a world determined to ignore those who do not fit the mold.
