A classic dark fantasy story, simple, yet well constructed. Ray Bradbury writes some of the most poetic prose I've ever read. Almost to a fault. He uses words and metaphors to construct sentences much on the way a painter blends colors on a canvas. His words have so much motion and emotion to them. My one complaint is that he sometimes spends so much effort creating these flowery epithets that it causes flow of the story to stutter or drag.

I switched off between reading this book, and listening to the audiobook. And I have to say that this is one of those stories that is greatly elevated by a good performance.
