A Broken Blade
by Melissa Blair
This book is similar to the premise of Throne of Glass Series where the main character has a lot of self loathing, wants to do better with their life, has a secret heritage, and is confident in their ability to kick ass. I am not as won over by the main love interest as I am Rowan Whithorne, but I do enjoy their dynamic. The plot twist at the end has me CRAVING the second book. This book covers issues like alcoholism, revenge, trust, abuse, wanting to create good in the world, over throwing tyrants in whatever way one can. I think overall this book was a https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59739150-a-broken-blade?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=Xs4GW91Asj&rank=1#3/5 as I feel there were plot holes/odd spacing/ and at times the characters fell flat as if the writer was unsure what to do in a situation. Emotionally I loved this book as it holds tropes I love: morally grey assassins'/ enemies to lovers/ bad ass women kicking men's ass/ hidden heritage.
