First off, I really liked the concept of this book. It needs work, but it is a wonderful concept. Secondly, I appreciate the book's exploration of Wisconsin. It seems like the author really cared about this place and the novel acts as a love letter to the state. I really liked the use of real locations in this novel. Third of all, PTSD and sensory experiences are very much a part of this book. I think the author paid good attention to these topics and gave them the respect they deserve.
This book is an amazing example of tell, don't show. Things seem to happen for the sake of convenience.
