Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal?
by Jeanette Winterson
3.75 stars. The tale of her childhood was gripping, relatable, and had enough substance to keep me reading. Though the style and narration aren't my particular jam, I can understand why Beth Kephart included this on a reading list of recommended memoirs. Telling such a difficult story with neutrality must have been a difficult task.
Extra .75 of a star because I found myself highlighting a lot of passages where the wording and emotion were so perfectly executed.
