What's so good about this story is that Kusanagi could have easily just made Yona the one suitable to lead because she's the Chosen One, but there's been so much work in building up her development as a kind, compassionate and competent leader that when she's stuck by Soo-won, the contrast is so stark. And I just really appreciate that this story took so much time to build up her development from spoiled brat (and I say this with much love in my heart) to true ruler. I also love that it shows that Yona's strategy of being kind and compassionate instead of treating people like pawns in order to control as much as possible is the better strategy because people will want to fight for you.
