The Other Boleyn Girl
by Philippa Gregory
The story itself would have benefited from some editing -- it took me a good 200-300 pages to feel drawn into the plot. But I think the author did a good job of portraying the court of King Henry VIII and what life was like for courtiers during this time. Having Mary serve as narrator for the story provided some humanity to all the goings-on.
