I read this book for a Native Visibility Read-A-Thon for this month in November. I didn’t expect to finish this book in one sitting but once I started I couldn’t put it down.

We get a past and present timeline in this book; triggers being rape, violence, kidnapping, murder.

I don’t want to go too in detail of the story since it will give a lot away but I will share my feelings while reading this book. As a woman, many of us are unfortunately common with the feelings of having to be on guard or alert majority of the time. We have to be aware of our surroundings, aware of people and their intentions. This book had me in that “heightened” feeling majority of the time. I was very aware of the female characters in the book, holding in my breaths when they did, trying to make myself feel small as they did, being aware of every action they take. This book made me scared.

Free Palestine 🇵🇸 & love to all the women in this world. ♥️
