So I don’t like historical fiction and getting into the mindset of WWII France was difficult, but Kristin Hannah paints wonderful pictures and brings you into the story (as always). In classic Hannah fashion, she highlights the experience of women and I love that. As with other reviews, I think the book picks up a lot in the last half. It wasn’t a very “fun” book because of the content, but it was a good book. The characters stuck with me, which is always a good sign. I enjoyed it overall, but just a little more difficult to read for various reasons.
