Daughter of the Moon Goddess is about a girl who flees her solitary life, who infiltrates a kingdom to learn magic, with the ultimate goal of setting her exiled mother free. Inspired by the legend of the Chinese Moon Goddess, this mythological world is imaginative and visual. The monsters are fantasy-scary. While the protagonist seems overly indecisive regarding her romantic interests, this is consistent with her character development, as she spends most of her life living with only her mother and one other person. From the first pages to the last, the pacing in this novel is extremely well done, with exposition scattered throughout many battle and conflict scenes.
