The White Rose by Amy Ewing

3.0

What a major case of second book syndrome. So very disappointing (not that The Jewel has much to live up to anyway).

I was seriously considering giving up at about 60% - all the repetitive action and non-action of their escape from the Jewel. Very tiresome indeed.

Things only started getting interesting once Violet discovered her connection to the **THINGS**. And the cliffhanger. Man oh man. The Duchess of the Lake has made a grave mistake.

This may just inspire me to read the next book, but I'm having serious doubts.

Feels too "The Handmaid's Tale"/"Divergent"/"Hunger Games" to me - rebellion and revolution - can get a bit tedious no matter the spin on it.
