A friend recommended this book to me, so I had high expectations. Sadly, this book was a miss for me. First, I don't know if it's a translation issue, but the writing felt really clunky, and the dialogues were stilted and artificial. It also reads terribly misogynistic; the only female characters are the main character's wife and prostitutes. The characters were flat, with weird behaviors, and no one was likable. I found the main character especially despicable. Sadly, nothing interesting happens in the book; there are no aliens, first contact, or anything else apart from some made-up words for extraterrestrial artifacts that weren't even described.
