Mr Fox steals food from local farmers to feed his family, but when the farmers tire of Mr Fox's theft, they surround his home and wait with guns to shoot the clever fox. Now he is trapped in a hole with his family with no farm birds to eat. 

Mr Fox isn't motivated by his greed and led astray by his hubris and he doesn't have any character flaws.
