Swann's Way
by Marcel Proust
Is it wrong that I read this because of a Monty Python sketch? (And that I want to read Thomas Hardy for the same reason?) Okay, so I'm a bad man. All that behind, you'll also notice it took me a while to get through this one. That's because you cannot read Proust quickly. His prose is extremely dense and layered. His language is poetic and his world-building is incredible. Proust digs deeply into the relationships of his characters, lingering over the motivations behind their actions. I will need to read this one again. I know I missed much.
