Gritty, honest. Accessible by McCarthy’s standards. Just as it was getting past time for something to happen, McCarthy obliged. While (assuming) controversial, I enjoyed the ending and what it meant. The boy represents hope against the father’s (justified) cynicism. Of course he finds a path forward without his dad. As someone trying to do the same, the boy makes me appreciate that it’s possible.
