Natsume's Book of Friends, Vol. 2 by Yuki Midorikawa

5.0

I'm really enjoying this series! While the commentary on yokai and humans being more similar than one would think is practically shoved down my throat, I'm not bothered by it because I love the interactions between Natsume and the yokai. And of course, Natsume and Nyanko-sensei, who is still killing it, I love him so much! The excorist's introduction was nice and I like how Midorikawa is introducing someone with a different perspective on yokai so early on. This way, there's more time for character growth and getting more of his backstory, which I'm definitely interested in.

The artwork is still as lovely as ever and the scenes where Natsume gives back yokais' names is still impactful every time. I wish would get more backstory on Reiko, but this is still very early on in the series so I guess I can't be too greedy right now. As was the case with the last volume, the final chapter in this series pulled out my heartstrings and left them in a bloody mess on the floor. Can't wait to see how the rest of the series goes, am I right?!

This is a fun series to read (especially if you want to relax) and I'm glad I picked it up. Super jazzed to see what comes next!
