I was really not expecting a rape scene, it took me by such surprise that I sat there for a full minute trying to process it.. The last line made me very :// it just felt way too soon but I’m sure it will be cleared up in the next book. Hopefully. One good thing though was that I ended up really liking Ben and I enjoy their budding friendship.
I’m still iffy on Adam and Mercy as an item and I find Adam bland and waaay too controlling. Its a big yikes. All he does is get angry, possessive, sweet, and then angry again. It feels too soon for them and he needs some serious character development for me to like him. I also felt like this book lacked any real plot, it almost felt like a filler episode lol. It was a disappointing read tbh but I did enjoy the start. It was strong and enthralling until it got to the middle, then it all fell flat. So three stars. But I will be reading the next one because I do enjoy this series.
