Laini Taylor manages the tension really well in the ending (?) of this two book series. I found myself awaiting every page turn to see what happens next, but was able to still feel the whimsy and romance in her writing and plot that reminded me of the first book. I think she furthered the plot in a way that really changed the pace and mood of the book while staying true to the poetry we were given in the first book. She did not disappoint. And the morally gray characters we see in the first book are treated with such tenderness and respect when delving into their stories. I loved it. Each character (even the less prominent ones) is made so three dimensionally that I felt like they could be the main character while still leaving room for the actual main characters. There’s so much to work with when it comes to them. I want more!
