The Dreaming Vol. 3: One Magical Movement by Simon Spurrier

3.0

There were good bits like the reminder of why we all need dreams in order to thrive and live to our furthest potential but I think it would have been better in this case if the Endless showed up a bit more. There were sections that were not even about the minor characters who we associate with dream of the endless. There were chunks where you could even forget this was supposed to be part of the Sandman Universe.

So I guess while I enjoyed it it was a bit too much telling instead of showing (and not telling as in telling a fable or fairy tale just telling what was happening.) It also felt like it really could have used an editor and the whole 3 vol condensed down to 1 or 2. I really would have liked to see more myths/stories/fables/... included in this series. In many ways what made the original Sandman so great was all the references to mythology and other stories.

Though if the point was to show how boring dreams are without stories then it hit the nail on the head by being a bit boring and slow.

I will say I am looking forward to other parts of the Sandman Universe written by individuals who should actually have an interesting take on things such as Nalo Hopkinson etc.
