The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

5.0

I mean…it’s Fellowship 😅 This really is a classic for a reason, even if some of the lore dumps did leave me confused at some points.

I love the Hobbits. I love their strong sense of community and how open they are showing male platonic love. I love Sam’s unwavering bond to Frodo and how he’ll go to the ends of Middle Earth for him. I know I just mentioned platonic love but Sam and Frodo are actually in love and no one can tell me otherwise! Actually, other than Aragorn, Sam himself might be my favorite character. He has such a big heart!!

As someone who has been playing dnd for what feels like forever, it was really fun to get to see where all the inspiration for the game comes from. It’s easy to forget exactly how long this book series has been around and how it’s impacted all kinds of media and touched on so many hearts.

I had a lot of fun when I read The Hobbit last year for Halloween and I had an even better time with Fellowship! I think I might still wait and read The Two Towers for next fall? We’ll see—
