Lucy in the Sky by Paige Toon
5.0
This was my first ever Paige Toon book and it certainly won’t be the last. It was exactly the book I needed at this point to get me out of my reading slump!
Lucy is such a nice character and so easy to get to know – I loved her! Not only that but I felt that I was so invested in her story that I really could not put the book down. You begin the story by meeting Lucy as she boards her flight to Sydney for her best friend’s wedding. However, throughout the book you get to hear about so many of Lucy’s childhood memories, from Lucy herself, to give the reader a better connection with her character. I thought this was so clever and important as part of the storyline itself, it made me feel as though Lucy was becoming my friend and she was relaying her experiences.
Nathan was the dreamboat in the story – he was perfect in every way. The picture perfect surfer guy with the charms that every girl wants. Through the book, I loved how he continued to make Lucy smile through his little jokes. Even when he wasn’t sure of the situation they were in, he still kept Lucy smiling.
Finally, I thought James was an ass the whole way through. I hated him – which was probably Paige’s intention for readers to feel. I was always certain he had cheated on Lucy and my mind was made up on who I preferred!
It’s a brilliant book – I wanted to know the answers as quickly as I could so continued reading but at the same time never wanted it to end.
