After Ever Happy by Anna Todd
5.0

i know a lot of people have mixed reviews about this series and I get it. the whole romanticizing abusive relationships isn't cool but I didn't really see it that way. i saw it as showing the reality behind some relationships as a lot of people can relate to being Hardin or being the Tessa in their relationship. I think it showed how some people can really grow and learn from their mistakes and decisions just like Hardin. while many abusive relationships are solved by one person leaving, I admire the beauty of self realization and having a happy ending.

that being said, this is easily my favorite book of the series. the timing with each part of their life is perfectly written and I liked how they both matured in the months they've known each other. Hardin finally realized Tessa's worth and how much he needed to get it together or leave. I was so broken in the beginning of this book as it took place right after the ending of AWF but my heart went right back together in the very end.

Tessa's discovery of her infertility was heartbreaking to read about and I was even more shattered hearing the way Hardin took the news. He never knew how much he wanted the idea of children until it was taken from him. Their time apart was good for them. They fell in love so young and didn't have the chance to grow because of them being so tethered to each other. One could not function without the other. I knew Hardin was absolute best, Tessa's dad dying was a wake up call for him. Her going to New York really was the best thing that ever happened to her. I was so happy when they met up in New York again. they melted into each other once again, body, mind, and soul. When I read this for the first time, I couldn't BELIEVE he was the one writing After. I had to pause and not read because everything kinda just clicked. Of course he was the one writing the story. I'm mad that he didn't tell Tessa about it in the first place. Their fight after she found out could've been resolved if he was honest about writing such personal things about her life.

Landon's wedding!! I almost thought that chapter was talking about Tessa's wedding and I was terrified. If that was true, I would've hoped Hardin would come and shut it down. The way he behaved in those chapters, the way he presented himself, the way he talked to others around him was so different that chapters before. He grew so much I could cry.

I couldn't fathom my happiness when they moved in together and had two babies! It was seriously what they deserved after all the heartbreak they went through. Hardin is an incredible father and I know he'll keep his promise by not being the father that Vance and Ken were. Their final happiness is what drove me through this series and I'm so happy the Hessa fans got it.
