Okay, I have many thoughts that are now cohesive.

I knew from the first page that this book would give me emotional turmoil because Nora is me and I am Nora. Not 100% but around 75%. She is extremely relatable to me in a way that you are trying to put everyone on your back while trying to stay afloat for yourself. She felt like her obligation to her family and career was her duty and she couldn’t derive from it. However, I appreciate how all of those details were broken down and simplified in a way where you can do everything and still have it all. It just has to be customizable to your lifestyle.

Libby is a little sister as that wants to have her own wings without her older sister acting as a helicopter mom. Nora and Libby’s relationship is so beautifully done and was by far my favorite aspect of the book. The list and needed to be with each other for as long as they could was so fun to read and relatable. It displays sisterhood with all its parts of honesty and heartbreak. The last few chapters made me cry honestly because the separation anxiety I know Nora felt was painful.

Charlie Lastra is by far my second favorite thing about this book. The banter between him and Nora was fun to witness but also the role he played in this book was just as important as the sister dynamic. I believe it ties it all together and encourages Nora to woosah and choose a life for herself that isnt dependent on others. It also felt realistic versus a fantasy of regular romantic expectations you see in most books.

The sense of community and everyone helping each other is one way, shape or form and what kept me reading. Especially at the end for Nora and Charlie because that was by far the sweetest gesture ever. This was such a good read and I’m now intrigued at Emily Henry’s other books bc this my first time reading her work. Definitely a 5/5
