The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives is a wonderful debut from African-born poet, Lola Shoneyin. Told via alternating perspectives, the novel focuses on how the lives of Baba Segi and his three wives become upended after the arrival of his fourth wife, Bolanle. The pacing moves along briskly and before you know it, we've reached the end of the book. An intriguing look at poly-amorous relationships in modern-day Nigeria, the inter family struggles and rivalries, and the complications women go through to find their place in the home, this is one novel you don't want to miss.
