The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith

4.0

beautifully written, I ate up every page of this book. so much hurt, pain, trauma. definitely check the triggers before reading. this book is so moving and a spot on representation of what trauma can do to someone, especially a teenager maneuvering life and changes through high school, friends and relationships.

edy experiences a devastating trauma during her early teenage years, freshman in high school, and goes through the next three years battling her inner demons. completely changing who she is, she becomes a promiscuous teenager, abusing alcohol and drugs, wrecking her friendships and relationships with others all as she’s finding a way to cope with what she’s been through. she finally finds a sense of peace when she opens up and tells the truth, sharing her story.

tw - rape, addiction, drug use, promiscuity
