End of Watch
by Stephen King
Brought the trilogy to an end in a satisfactory way. But I had no doubts about this. Stephen King is too old a hand to sell the reader short.
A good thriller. Certainly kept the pages turning for me, and there were a goodly number of twists in the tale. Lots of characters to keep track of, each one fleshed out before being bumped off.
The trilogy as a whole bothered me. A bit too forced, in my view. A bit of a jump to suspend disbelief. Some unsettling themes.
Yeah, I know it's a Stephen King story and there's going to be oddness and darkness, but there are ways and means.
I think he's done better, but even a second-rate King is still a princely read.
