vjang 's review for:
Anne of Windy Poplars
by L.M. Montgomery
I did not love the structure of this book. Stylistically the format turned into letters and first person narrative, which was very different from all the other Anne books. After getting over that shock I was slowly able to get into the plot a little more.
This book deals with Anne’s life after college and the period of time she’s engaged to and apart from Gilbert while he finishes medical school. It’s sad that he’s completely absent from the book, but Anne still has many adventures on her own which keeps us all entertained in the meantime.
I enjoyed her battles with the Pringles and how she wins them over in the end. It’s classic Anne, only now she’s all grown up and independent. Overall an enjoyable read.
