Dragonne's Eg by Mary Brown

3.0

Miss Sophronisbe Lee’s simple life is abruptly changed when she inherits her late uncles estate on the condition of finishing a quest he was unable to. A quest linked to a story of a young woman who had a dragon lover, a quest to return the stolen Dragonne’s Eg to it’s rightful place in China. Together with a mythical companion, a magical ring and several human chaperones and companions she sets of to do just that.

The story was an easy enough read but I found myself zoning out sometimes, the most exciting mishaps were what happens on the ship with the overly friendly passenger and the drugging and attempted robbery that occurs far away up the mountains; everything else is a bit dull. Aside from existing, there really isn’t much else allocated to the egg itself except at the end when it hatches and the surprise that follows after. I also found the romance baseless, her enchanted husband seemed to have been picked as such for no other reason than a similar heritage.

3/5 – I’m glad I finished the series and it was a good enough read.
