The Winner by Teddy Wayne

3.0

This pains me a bit because I love Teddy Wayne, but this foray into "psychological, sexy thriller" wasn't super thrilling or extraordinarily sexy (even though, yes, there's a lot of sex). But where this really fell flat for me are the attempts at profound interiority that read more like "man explains things to himself that are already fairly obvious."

It's a quick read, perfect for the beach. There's no shortage of drama, that's for sure. And some interesting commentary on class and wealth. But overall, this is more a double-fault than a winner.
