Not sure why it falls short of 5 stars. It’s definitely close just by virtue of making a biography of this distant person so readable. I was surprised to see I always was interested to pick it back up, which for me is the number one thing really.
I learned a lot about medieval life and thought and culture. For example, there were movements to criticize the Catholic Church back in Henry V’s time, as opposed to being something new under Henry VIII. Of course medieval life was brutal and that was not easy to read about.
