The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
4.0
From the description: "Suspenseful and outlandish, absorbing and fun, The Eyre Affair is a caper unlike any other..."
Pretty much this.^^^
It starts off a bit confusing and slow, but when the plot finally starts unfolding, you're in for a weird, ridiculous ride. "This feels extremely British," I kept thinking, over and over.
It reminds me a smidge of Hitchiker's Guide in its absurdity, intelligence, and chaotically cohesive plot.
Definitely going to read more in the series!
