What If You & Me by Roni Loren

4.0

This is the first book I’ve read by Roni Loren and it definitely won’t be the last. This particular story focuses on two characters who find themselves living next to each other - Andi, a horror author and true crime podcaster, and Hill, a now retired firefighter after an accident on the job resulted in the loss of his leg. As a spark of attraction forms between the two main characters, we are shown how they have each suffered a traumatic event in their pasts, leaving them with lasting psychological repercussions, the aftermath of which proving that building a relationship can be a monumental challenge. I think the author does an amazing job of realistically and tastefully discussing disability, fear, mental health and post-traumatic stress while advocating the benefits of therapy and healthy relationships. I found it super interesting that she has a background in social work and mental health counseling! 4.5 stars!
