Any novel that is partially narrated by crack cocaine is going to make me want to read it. The three perspectives throughout this story give it depth, as well as giving voice having no escape. I highly recommend reading this to gain an understanding of poverty and race issues in the United States today, and how they can lead to modern-day slavery. If that sounds overwhelming, just read the prologue and you'll be hooked.
