Heroine Complex by Sarah Kuhn
3.0

This is a 2.5 rounded up to 3. Superficially, there were so many things to like about this book. It's lively, the characters come across as real and generally likeable, their interactions are (mostly) plausible (within the context of the book, of course).

My problem is I couldn't really relate - I've never had a small tight knit group of friends that I lived with, I don't have a younger sister, I've never gone shop(lift)ing at Nordstrom, and I hope I'm stabbed to death before I ever have to perform karaoke in front of a crowd.

But just because I couldn't relate doesn't mean the book didn't entertain me. I had to get through the first third or so before it picked up. I'll read the next one in hopes it gels with me better.
