To be fair, I didn't actually finish the book so I can't comment on it as a whole. On the other hand, the fact that I got 40% of the way through and didn't finish should tell you something. It started out really interesting, and it wasn't exactly bad per se (even if the writing sometimes left a bit to be desired), but after the initial hook the story just didn't deliver. I got about half way through and found the progress became glacial and the info-dumping became unbearable, so I never went back. Maybe I'll try again in a year or two.
