A very well written and entertaining fan fiction novel. The author does a fantastic job at asking the question, "What if Nathaniel  Hawthorne's 'Scarlett Letter' was based on true events and was written from his own personal experience?"
This book is very detail-oriented with lengthy descriptions. Some readers may not like that, but I do. I appreciate when an author takes time to do their due diligence and research what they are writing about. Even more so when the author can then insert that information within the novel with a grace that enables the reader to visualize those small details without being overly wordy.
Once I got about a third of the way through the book I did not want to put it down. I loved the main character, Isobel. Her background, her struggles, her growth. This novel has heartache and pain but it also has empowerment, strong female relationships, and love. Highly recommend!
