Cj Leede creates characters you can’t help but root for. I was so emotionally invested and attached that I literally cried from
Barghest’s death
until the end of the book.

Sophia is a (very sheltered) 16 year old teen from an extremely religious family, who goes to a Catholic school and attends church every weekend. 
But when a virus infects her parents she’s forced to leave home and seems safety with nothing more than her mother’s car and keys
