Edit: okay, this is actually 4 stars, not 3.5.
Edit 2: y’all the audiobook is INCREDIBLE!! Also, a solid 4 stars.
Gideon the Ninth is an absolutely wild ride from start to finish! Part fantasy, part whodunnit, part story of friendship and alliance in unusual circumstances - there’s truly something for everyone. It’s also really funny and has a lot of heart. It took me a little while to warm up to Gideon and her brash, no-frills attitude, but she became my favorite character by the end.

My main criticism of the novel is that the world and media systems didn’t feel super fleshed out, but there are more books in the trilogy/series where that can happen. The author did add a glossary and some other things to the end of the book that helped explain a bit, which was helpful, but I still felt a little confused by some things.
