Dragons of Spring Dawning: Chronicles, Volume Three by Margaret Weis

3.0

This continued to be an enjoyable re-read of the series that I loved as a kid. The 2nd book surprised me in how much of an improvement over the first book it was (gone were the scenes that read like D&D combat, and in were the scenes that dealt more with the characters and their emotions). Unfortunately the 3rd book did not have any surprises in it to make it seem better than the 2nd, and so it felt worse (which is probably unfair). I enjoyed it, but I can't recommend it to a new adult reader.

Characters die or stop in the story not because they needed to at that point, but because the authors had no use for them in the next section so they made some flimsy excuse not to have them continue on (with the requisite parting of ways scene).
