Bloom Into You, Vol. 1 by Nakatani Nio
4.0

High school first-year Yuu has always dreamed of having a shoujo romance, complete with butterflies and all the usual heart fluttering-feelings. But, when a boy does confess to her, she finds that she feels…nothing. No butterflies. Her feet remain on the ground.

She’s disappointed and confused. More, Yuu is worried there is something wrong with her.

Struggling to understand her own feelings and to navigate her place in high school, Yuu finds herself being directed towards the student council which is in need of underclassmen volunteers. It’s in the student council that Yuu meets needs beautiful and smart Nanami, a second-year student on her way to becoming the next student council president.

Nanami is capable and kind in addition to being beautiful and smart. She immediately takes a liking to Yuu, who is quiet but helpful. More, Yuu doesn’t treat Nanami like she is something special. Yuu treats Nanami like a regular person which makes Nanami feel like she doesn’t have to put on a show for Yuu.

When Nanami confesses her feelings for Yuu, she is unsure of how to respond. Her heart is still uncertain and she’s never even thought about girls like that before. Nanami is understanding though and let’s Yuu know she’s fine with being the only one in love.

But, is Nanami really alone in love?

So far, this is such a cute story with such sweet characters who are clearly working through the “growing pains” of growing up. These two young girls are right in the midst of discovering who they are and what they want out of life. This story is starting to shape up to be a moving story about love and growing together.

Definitely looking forward to reading more!
